Daily Devotions and the Preaching Office

Here is my paper Daily Devotions and the Preaching Office that I presented at the Kansas District Professional Church Worker’s Conference.  The theme for the conference was Teaching the Faith.

An overview of the paper is that today, there is a serious disconnect between people who are faithful in their worship attendance, but who do not have a practice of daily devotions in the home.  This paper proposes that the reason for this disconnect is that there is a lack of faithful preaching of Law and Gospel as it relates to daily devotions.

Daily devotions are not just a nice thing that believers may do, but they are an important part of the life of the faithful Christian, and to not do daily devotions is wrong, it is sin; and it needs to be dealt with in the same way that other sins are dealt with in the sermon.
