A Graduation Prayer

A Graduation Prayer
Almighty God, heavenly Father, You have brought these your sons and daughters to this important milestone in their lives. We give You thanks for the faithful efforts of parents, teachers, administrators, staff and coaches to care for, teach, and mentor these young people over the past years, and we thank you for their faithful service. We also thank you for the freedoms and opportunities that this country allows, where education is accessible to all, and opportunities abound for people of every gender and nationality.

We ask that You would watch over these Your children as they head their separate ways from this institution of learning. Stretch forth Your mighty arms over them as they travel and study and learn and work in other places. Grant that their paths would lead them to successful careers in occupations that are pleasing to You. Keep their eyes focused not on the things of this world, but on the things of eternal life; remind them daily of their baptisms and their need for forgiveness; foster in them a hunger for Your Word.

We ask these things, not to bring glory to our names, or the theirs, but that glory may be brought to Your name O Lord. For as these men and women depart on paths of which we cannot see the ending, we pray that their plans would prosper according to Your holy will, and that they would use their talents to become upstanding citizens of their communities, and that they would soon be led to faithful spouses, and become loving parents, who instill in their children the faith and education that they enjoyed.

Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. AMEN.

Congratulations to all those who graduate this month! May the Lord bless your future plans!
